Adrian Pearsall was born in Trumansburg, New York, in 1925, and grew up working on his parents Farm in upstate NY. After serving in the Pacific during World War II, the young veteran enrolled in the University of Illinois to study architectural engineering. However, his passion for furniture design led him to switch his major to Industrial Design.
Lucky for him, Pearsalls parents had recently opened a woodworking furniture store, where Pearsall worked as a sales representative. Here, he learned the ins and outs about furniture construction and manufacturing. After gaining some experience, he shifted his focus solely on designing and manufacturing his pieces. In 1952, he founded Craft Associates and gained a reputation for his visually-striking and functional furniture creations.
One of Pearsall’s signature design elements was his use of solid, natural wood and organic curves. He also incorporated materials unique to the time, like Plexiglas or sculptural walnut. Pearsall’s pieces were both bold in form yet had a delicate balance of practicality and elegance. His iconic kidney-shaped sofas and chairs, funky fresh legged furniture, sleek coffee tables, and curvilinear lamps became instant hits.
Pearsall’s keen attention to detail and focus on functionality made his furniture pieces a favorite among homeowners, decorators, and interior designers. He had a passion for bringing art and functionality together in the Modern Home.

This architectural gem underwent a complete redesign envisioned by Pearsall, with his signature touch from floor to ceiling. Every detail, including the furnishings, bore his creative imprint. Spanning an impressive 10,000 square feet, the house earned acclaim as a masterpiece of the Atomic Age. Unfortunately, it found a new owner outside the family circle.
Later in his career, Pearsall shifted his focus towards yacht restoration, drawn by a passion for maritime heritage. This new pursuit saw him breathing new life into classic vessels, preserving their elegance for future generations to admire and enjoy.
